What this site publishes

calculaterun publishes two things: calculators that implement published equations, and articles about distance running physiology and training. Both are written for runners making practical decisions, and both are expected to survive scrutiny from someone who knows the field.

Sourcing

Every calculator names the researcher and publication its formula comes from. Articles draw on peer-reviewed research, position statements from professional bodies, and established coaching practice, and say which of the three a claim rests on. Where evidence is contested or thin, the article says so rather than picking a side for narrative convenience.

Claims about effect sizes are given as ranges when the literature reports ranges. A statement like "improves economy by two to eight percent" is preferred to a single confident figure that the underlying studies do not support.

What this site does not do

Corrections

Errors are corrected promptly. Where a correction changes the substance of a claim or a calculator output, a note is added to the page recording what changed and when. Silent edits to substantive content are not made.

To report an error, use the contact page. Calculation errors are prioritised, since a wrong formula affects every reader who uses the tool.

Review schedule

Calculator pages are reviewed at least annually against their source literature. Articles are reviewed when new evidence materially changes a conclusion, and the review date is shown on the page.

Advertising and independence

The site carries display advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no involvement in what is published, no advance sight of content, and no influence on any conclusion, recommendation or calculator output. Ad placements are kept clear of calculator inputs and results so that no reader can mistake an advertisement for a tool.

Use of generative tools

Drafting assistance may be used in producing content on this site. Every published page is reviewed, verified against its cited sources and edited by a human before publication, and responsibility for accuracy rests with the named author.
